A recent American Principles Project (APP) report highlights weaponized enforcement by the department’s Office of Enforcement, singling out Christian institutions for disproportionate and discriminatory scrutiny and penalties.
Here are seven alarming facts about the bureaucratic weaponization against Christian schools…
- Christian Colleges Bear the Brunt of Penalties
Despite representing less than 10% of U.S. college students, Christian colleges and universities account for roughly 70% of penalties imposed by the DOE’s Office of Enforcement.
- Accusations of Weaponized Enforcement
Jon Schweppe, Policy Director at APP and author of the report, blasted the Biden administration for “weaponizing every part of the federal government to target their opponents.”
In a statement, Schweppe said:
“As our report details, the Biden-Harris Department of Education has been engaged in a long-running scheme to punish Christian colleges that are ideologically opposed to the left’s agenda. The unfair targeting of these institutions has been egregious, and it needs to stop immediately.”
- Abolishing the Education Department Gains Momentum
President-elect Donald Trump has signaled a commitment to downsizing or eliminating the Department of Education.
In October, Trump stated:
“We want federal education dollars to follow the student, rather than propping up a bloated and radical bureaucracy in Washington DC. We want to close the federal department of education. “
US Senator Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) has introduced legislation to abolish the department entirely, those such efforts, faced significant hurdles, requiring a super majority in the Senate to pass.
Trump’s pledge to end the DOE is just the first step in fixing our broken education system and insuring, fairness, freedom, and accountability and government.
The first step is draining the swamp in the department of education.
Don’t let the teacher union and media fool you. It’s time for dramatic changes to be made to make education great again.
