The current unrest and violence at the Al-Aqsa mosque in Old Jerusalem is, to a large part, the fault of the U.S. and the UN.
In one of its final back-stabbing acts against Israel, the Obama administration allowed a biased UN resolution against the Jewish state to pass.
Such resolutions in the past have been vetoed by the US, a strong ally of Israel.
But on the eve of Chanukah and Christmas, Obama reversed course and refused to veto it.
Basically, he put his stamp of approval on a resolution that said Israel has no legal presence in Jerusalem’s Old City and on the Temple Mount.
Clearly, this excited a UN that has been pushing pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel resolutions for years.
Imams in the West Bank and elsewhere have been telling Palestinians “the UN says all this belongs to us!” “Israel is the occupier!”
The UN has provoked Israel once more. It has given fuel to an Islamic fire that incites violence against Jews.
When its police officers protecting the Temple Mount were shot by Palestinian attackers, metal detectors were installed. But mosques and Palestinian officials incited more violence.
As Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously cited, this is exactly the incitement that prevents peace in the Middle East.
In essence, the UN has joined ranks with Israel’s enemies.
- ISIS wants to annihilate Israel by terrorizing the Jewish people.
- Hamas wants to obliterate Israel.
- Hezbollah, backed by the Iranian regime, prepares for war with Israel.
- Palestinian terrorists target Israeli women and children with stabbings and rocket attacks.
Now UN agencies demand that Israel abandon its eternal capital, Jerusalem. One UN agency even refers to it as Jerusalem, Palestine.
Reflecting the anti-Semitism of the Middle East, the UN has declared Israel to be an apartheid state.
Because the Palestinian Authority and other terrorist groups that use terrorism against Israel find Israel fights back and protects itself.
This is not apartheid – separation by race. It’s self-protection by a democracy and a country that wants to get along with all.
But for the first time in eight years, the U.S. is fighting back to protect Israel.
Nikki Haley, the new U.S. ambassador to the UN, warned, “There’s a new sheriff in town.”
She made three key points with the press following a recent UN security council meeting.
- The United States will not turn a blind eye to the UN’s anti-Israel bias.
- America’s support for the state of Israel is ironclad.
- The U.S. is determined to stand up to the UN’s anti-Israel resolutions.
