American Idol is airing a special three-hour episode on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, themed “Songs of Faith.”

The top 20 contestants will perform faith-inspired songs, and there will be additional performances by artists like CeCe Winans, Jelly Roll, Brandon Lake, Roman Collins, and The Brown Four.

Judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan will also take the stage to sing. The episode leans into the Easter holiday with a focus on worship and faith-based music, marking a first for the show.

It’ll air live from 8 to 11 p.m. ET on ABC, with viewers voting for their favorites to advance in the competition.

God got the glory on American Idol in the recent auditions.

Canaan Hill, a 17-year-old contestant sang, “I Need Your Glory.” And he wasn’t shy about his faith.

Judge Lionel Richie said, “That was powerful.”

Hill responded, “Thank you so much. To God be the glory.”

Judge Carrie Underwood said, “Thank you for bringing your gift to us.”

Judge Luke Bryan said he “hadn’t seen anything like it.”

All three judges gave Hill a “Platinum ticket.”
