Christians were mocked and insulted… again.
This time, it was a Democrat using a video podcast to mock the Holy Communion… Specifically, Catholic Communion—Catholics and Christians were shocked by the blasphemy.
The radical secular socialists hate religion…
They hate everything associated with it…
And they have become so hardened… and aggressive… they are oblivious to the offense.
The radical left’s disdain for religion, especially Christianity, was on full display when Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer participated in a social media video with journalist Liz Plank on her “feministabulous” posts to promote the CHIPS ACT that Harris/Biden pushed through.
In the video, Whitmer feeds a Dorito chip to a kneeling Plank, mocking receiving communion. Whitmer then gazes into the camera while wearing a “Harris-Walz” hat.
For Christians, nothing could be more monstrous or disrespectful.
All Christian denominations observe the Holy Communion or the Lord’s Supper.
Holy Communion is a sacred and central act of worship instituted by Jesus Christ. It is an act of obedience to Christ’s command: “Do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19), reinforcing a personal relationship with Christ.
It commemorates the Last Supper, where Jesus shared bread and wine with His disciples, symbolizing His body and blood, just before His crucifixion (Matthew 26:26-28, Luke 22:19-20).
Communion is profoundly significant to Christians. This sacred practice commemorates His sacrificial death on the cross for the atonement of our sins and celebrates the new covenant established through His blood he shed on the cross.
“It is not just distasteful or ‘strange,’ it is an all-too-familiar example of an elected official mocking religious people and their practices. While dialogue on this issue with the governor’s office is appreciated, whether or not insulting Catholics and the Eucharist was the intent, it has had an offensive impact,” said Paul A. Long, who serves as president and CEO of the Michigan Catholic Conference.
Whitmer tried to put out the political fire, saying, “Over 25 years in public service, I would never do something to denigrate someone’s faith. I’ve used my platform to stand up for people’s right to hold and practice their personal religious beliefs (Note: except during COVID or Christians spreading “misinformation”0. My team has spoken to the Michigan Catholic Conference. What was supposed to be a video about the importance of the CHIPS Act to Michigan jobs has been construed as something it was never intended to be, and I apologize for that.”
In response, the community group CatholicVote wrote on X:
“How else can this be interpreted other than a mockery of Catholics and the sacrament of Holy Communion, not to mention the distasteful, pornographic innuendo? Gretchen Whitmer is only the latest example of the gross anti-Catholic bigotry festering inside the Democratic Party.”
Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s actions serve as a stark reminder of the radical left’s disregard for religious values, particularly those held dear by Christians.
Such actions not only disrespect the deeply held convictions of millions but also highlight a concerning trend of intolerance towards religious freedoms we see from the radical left.
