Update on Cory: Shot 5 Times [Videos]

Five days after Shelly’s and my son Cory was shot by gang bangers in a robbery attempt, I gave the message – by God’s grace – at the Sunday morning worship service at Calvary Chapel Montebello (The Arc).

I spoke of tragedy, trauma and hope … In fact, my sermon title was “Hope When Your World is Turned Upside Down.”

Since then, Cory, Shelly and I have received so many wonderful notes and messages … contributions to help with Cory’s bills and expenses … and so many prayers!

Thank you!

Shelly and I returned to The Arc last week and gave a short update on Cory…

You can see the short intro where we talk about Cory here:

In the paragraphs below, we’ll summarize what we shared…

If you’d like to hear the sermon, “Hope When Your World is Turned Upside Down,” click here.

Cory is doing well on his road to recovery…

The doctor appointments are now turning into follow ups … which is a relief…

A nerve study has been scheduled for next month for his right arm. Currently, his bicep muscle isn’t working. Please continue to pray for healing…

Cory is getting connected with Bible studies and Christian counseling … which is helping his outlook.

He has a lot to process and unpack…

He is submitting paperwork for disability with the state … and paperwork for victims of violent crimes. Both entities are able to award compensation for him.

Please pray that it would be God’s will for him to receive those funds. He hasn’t been able to go back to work … and won’t be able to work for a long time.

Many, many thanks to those who have continued to pray for Cory. He is so grateful … and he knows the power of prayer!

Cory is also very touched – to the point of tears – by those of you who have been led to help him financially. Every dollar helps him get back on his feet – in so many ways.

Cory is now able to live on his own … and is thrilled that he can.

We are beyond thankful that we will get to celebrate Cory’s 29th birthday on May 28th!

We are thankful not just for the gift of Cory’s life … but for what God will continue to do through him. We know God has amazing plans for Cory’s future calling…

Currently, he is juggling many ideas for ministry…

Please pray for clear direction and wisdom on that.

We would like you to celebrate his life with him by sending him a birthday card and encouraging him during this time of recovery…

Also, if you feel led to include a gift of $10, Cory will use it to help defer the costs of Christian counseling. We know Cory will be blessed!

You can send cards to him at our business address … and make checks out to Craig Huey … with “For Cory” on the Memo line.

Or you can donate online at https://www.paypal.me/CraigHuey.

All gifts will go directly to Cory’s counseling.

Thank you again for your diligent prayers…

We watch God work daily miracles!!

The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, to guide and to shield me], I shall not want.
He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still and quiet waters. He refreshes and restores my soul (life); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [not for my earning it, but] for His name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death,
I fear [or dread] no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort and console me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You have anointed and refreshed my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely goodness, mercy and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell forever [throughout all my days] in the house and in the presence of the Lord. (Psalm 23, Amplified Bible)
