The Invisible News Deception: How Four Tech Giants Are Shaping What America Believes—and How It Votes: 6 Things Every American Must Know

Huey ReportApple News, Deception, Fake News, Google News, Yahoo News

▶ Key Takeaways
  • Apple News, Google News, Microsoft’s MSN and Yahoo News have become powerful gatekeepers that influence which stories millions of people see.
  • The Media Research Center examined 10,338 articles featured by the Big Four news services between November 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026.
  • Seventy percent of the featured articles came from left-leaning outlets, compared with only 5% from right-leaning sources—a 14-to-1 information advantage for the Left.
  • This imbalance can shape how Americans view candidates, elections, capitalism, socialism, immigration, religious liberty and other major issues.
  • Modern information suppression does not always require deleting or banning a story. A platform can make reporting nearly invisible simply by excluding it from prominent placement.
  • Apple News featured only 14 stories from right-leaning outlets—less than one-half of 1% of the 2,825 articles analyzed by MRC.
  • Google News promoted nearly 70% of its stories from left-leaning sources, while only approximately 2% came from right-leaning outlets.
  • Microsoft’s MSN was the least unbalanced of the four, but left-leaning stories still outnumbered right-leaning stories by nearly five to one.
  • Yahoo News had the highest percentage of left-leaning content: nearly 87% of its featured stories came from the Left.
  • Americans should not allow an algorithm to become their editor. They should compare competing accounts and seek conservative, libertarian, Christian, centrist and genuinely independent reporting.

You may think you are choosing the news and your social media.

But every day, four powerful technology companies are quietly choosing it for you.

I’m going to expose six disturbing facts about Apple News, Google News, Microsoft’s MSN and Yahoo News—including how they can:

  • Withhold competing viewpoints
  • Create an illusion of objective reporting
  • Ultimately influence what Americans believe
  • And how they vote

Together, these “Big Four” news services reportedly receive more than 550 million monthly visits.

Three are placed directly on millions of phones and computers.

That gives these companies something America has never experienced before: the ability to quietly influence public opinion on a massive invisible scale—without most people even realizing it is happening.

Here are 6 distinguishable facts:

1. The Deception: You Think You’re Receiving the News—But You’re Receiving a Selected and Biased Version of It

The Media Research Center examined 10,338 articles appearing in the Big Four’s top 20 morning news selections between November 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026.

The results were stunning.

Seventy percent of the stories came from left-leaning news outlets.

Only 5% came from right-leaning sources.

That gives the Left a 14-to-1 information advantage.

And that kind of imbalance does far more than determine which headlines you and your fellow Americans see.

It shapes your worldview.

It influences which candidates appear reasonable—and which appear extreme.

It affects what you believe about capitalism, socialism, abortion, religious liberty, immigration, election integrity and the role of government.

It even creates the false impression that progressive and socialist opinions represent the overwhelming consensus—while conservative, libertarian, Republican and Christian viewpoints are fringe positions hardly worth considering.

That shapes your opinions.

And ultimately, it shapes your vote.

2. How the Deception Works: The Most Powerful Bias May Be the Story You Never See

The new form of censorship does not require banning an article or removing it from the internet.

It’s much quieter.

It’s invisible.

It’s dangerous.

A conservative viewpoint can remain technically available online—but be buried so deeply that almost no one encounters it.

Meanwhile, a report from MS NOW, CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post or another left-leaning source can be elevated into the top stories seen by millions.

The stories that are promoted become the national conversation.

The stories that are buried effectively disappear.

This creates what I call an information funnel.

You may see 20 different headlines from 10 different publications and assume you are receiving a broad range of opinions.

But if nearly all those publications approach an issue through the same progressive or socialist worldview, the appearance of diversity is an illusion.

You are not receiving ten genuinely different perspectives.

You are receiving variations of the same perspective. And don’t realize it.

That is what makes this so deceptive.

Now, look at what MRC discovered about each of the four gatekeepers.

3. Apple News: Less Than One-Half of 1% Came From Right-Leaning Sources

Apple News produced perhaps the most shocking example of conservative viewpoints being excluded.

Of the 2,825 articles MRC analyzed, 2,058—or nearly 73%—came from left-leaning outlets.

Only 14 articles came from right-leaning sources.

That is less than one-half of 1%.

Even more disturbing, MRC found that Apple News went 99 consecutive days without featuring a single article from a right-leaning outlet in its morning edition.

During a 100-day period, Apple featured 1,379 stories from left-leaning outlets before finally selecting one story from a right-leaning source.

And that story was not about politics or public policy.

It was an actor’s obituary.

A separate AllSides study reinforced the problem. Its review of Apple News found that 50% of its selections came from the Left and only 2% from the Right. In Apple’s editor-curated “Top Stories,” 54% came from left-leaning sources—and none came from the Right.

Apple may offer thousands of publications.

But having conservative sources somewhere inside an app is not the same as giving their reporting meaningful visibility.

4. Google News: Personalization Does Not Correct a Biased Default
Google News was not much better.

MRC found that Google promoted 1,783 stories from left-leaning outlets—nearly 70% of the 2,567 articles examined.

Only 54 stories, or approximately 2%, came from right-leaning outlets.
AllSides independently reported an even wider disparity during its study period: 73% from the Left and only 1% from the Right.

Google disputes the conclusion that its service is biased. The company points out that news results can be personalized.

But that defense overlooks the real-world behavior of news consumers.

Most people will never proactively reprogram their news feed.

They will not research the political orientation of hundreds of publications.

They will not know which sources are missing. And they cannot ask Google to show them stories they do not know exist.

Most people simply accept the default selections placed in front of them.

Therefore, the default is enormously powerful.

If Google begins with an overwhelmingly liberal selection, personalization does not eliminate the bias. It merely places the burden on unsuspecting consumers to discover and correct a problem they do not know exists.

5. Microsoft’s MSN: The “Least Biased” Is Still Far From Balanced

Microsoft’s MSN performed better than the other three—but “better” does not mean balanced.

Of the 2,503 MSN stories examined, 1,303—or 52%—came from left-leaning sources.

Approximately 11% came from right-leaning sources, while 930 came from sources classified as center… I personal consider liberal, just not radical.

That makes MSN the least unbalanced member of the Big Four.

But left-leaning stories still outnumbered right-leaning stories by nearly five to one.

MRC also found that almost all MSN’s right-leaning content came from Fox News or Fox Business. With only rare exceptions, other conservative publications remained outside their most prominent selections.

No Newsmax. No OAN. No Daily Wire. No Huey Alert.

In other words, MSN may provide more balance than Apple or Google.

But it still gives the Left a powerful structural advantage.

6. Yahoo News: Nearly 87% of Its Stories Came From the Left

Finally, there is Yahoo News—the platform with the highest percentage of left-leaning content in the MRC study.

Yahoo promoted 2,121 stories from left-leaning outlets.

That was nearly 87% of its selections.

Only 8% came from right-leaning outlets, while less than 5% came from sources rated in the center.

Yahoo also relied heavily on its own reporting and left-leaning publications such as Salon, Business Insider and The New Republic.

This is significant because Yahoo reportedly receives more than 200 million monthly visits—more than any of the other three services examined by MRC.

Millions of people can open Yahoo and believe they are seeing the most important news of the day.

What they are actually seeing is one of America’s most ideologically lopsided news selections.

The Bottom Line: Never Let an Algorithm Become Your Editor

Not every article promoted by these services is false.

That is not the point.

The deception is the biased presentation of an overwhelmingly one-sided news selection as though it were a neutral summary of what matters.

When one side receives a 14-to-1 information advantage, Americans are not being equipped to reach fully informed conclusions… or properly vote.

They are being steered.

The answer is not to replace one information bubble with another.

It is to refuse to surrender your judgment to an algorithm.

Read competing accounts.

Subscribe directly to trusted news organizations.

Seek out conservative, libertarian, Christian and genuinely independent reporting.

And always ask one essential question:

What facts, arguments or viewpoints am I not being shown?

And ask… what are your family, friends and neighbors looking at?

Because when four powerful corporations can determine which stories America sees, which perspectives appear credible and which facts remain hidden, they are doing more than reporting the news.

They are shaping our worldview.

They are influencing our elections.

And they are helping determine the future of America.

Research sources: Media Research Center’s Big Four study and AllSides’ independent 2026 news-aggregator analysis

FAQs:

Q: What are the “Big Four” news services?
A: The Big Four are Apple News, Google News, Microsoft’s MSN and Yahoo News. These powerful news aggregators select, rank and recommend stories from numerous publications.

Q: What did the Media Research Center study examine?
A: MRC examined the top 20 morning stories featured by the four news services between November 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026. The study analyzed 10,338 articles from outlets rated by AllSides.

Q: What was the study’s most important finding?
A: MRC found that 70% of the featured articles came from left-leaning outlets, while only 5% came from right-leaning outlets. That represents a 14-to-1 information advantage for the Left.

Q: Does this prove that every story promoted by these services is false?
A: No. The principal concern is not that every individual article is inaccurate. It is that the overwhelming selection of stories from one ideological direction can produce a distorted and incomplete picture of important events.

Q: How can news selection influence elections?
A: The stories people repeatedly see can shape which issues appear important, which candidates appear credible and which positions seem mainstream or extreme. That can influence political opinions and ultimately affect voting decisions.

Q: How can a platform suppress information without censoring it?
A: A platform does not have to delete an article to limit its impact. It can exclude it from top stories, place it lower in search results or repeatedly recommend competing reports while leaving the original story almost invisible.

Q: Which news service featured the fewest conservative articles?
A: According to MRC’s study, Apple News featured only 14 articles from right-leaning outlets out of 2,825 analyzed—less than one-half of 1%.

Q: Which news service featured the highest percentage of left-leaning content?
A: Yahoo News had the highest percentage in MRC’s study. Nearly 87% of its featured stories came from left-leaning outlets, compared with 8% from right-leaning sources and less than 5% from the center.

Q: Doesn’t personalization allow users to correct the problem?
A; Personalization may improve an individual feed, but most people do not actively reprogram their news selections. They may not recognize the ideological imbalance—or know which sources and stories are missing. Consequently, the default feed remains extremely influential.

Q: How can readers obtain a more complete understanding of the news?
A: Readers should compare reports from several ideological perspectives, subscribe directly to trusted publications and deliberately seek conservative, libertarian, Christian, centrist and independent reporting. They should continually ask: “What facts or viewpoints am I not being shown?”
