Summer: 6 Christian Friendly Spots to Take the Kids or Grandkids

Craig HueyFaith, God's Word 1 Comment

The kids and grandkids are out of school… the weather is warm… the days are long…

It’s a great time for a road trip or vacation!

While there are many places to choose from – not only locally but around the country – you might want to take your family to a place where you’ll not only have fun… but where you’ll learn things about the Bible… and be encouraged in your faith.

Here are 6 vacation suggestions in different parts of the country that provide fun, educational and spiritually edifying experiences for the whole family:

  1. Ark Encounter
Williamstown, Kentucky (45 minutes from The Creation Museum)

My wife and I could not believe what a powerful experience it was!

This is a full-size replica of Noah’s Ark and much more.

Meet Noah, his family, and the animals on the ark as you explore 3 decks of world-class exhibits.

The Creation Museum and Ark Encounter are near the Cincinnati International Airport. For more information on Ark Encounter, visit arkencounter.com. If you’re going, email me and I’ll send you suggestions.

  1. The Creation Museum
    Petersburg, Kentucky

Venture through biblical history from a creationist perspective, not an evolutionary perspective.

It’s a powerful, well done, step by step presentation of the Bible and creation – made fun and interactive.

It’s a 1–2-day trip.

  • Stunning exhibits
  • Botanical gardens
  • Planetarium
  • Petting zoo
  • Zip-line adventure course and much more…

  1. The Museum of the Bible
    Washington D.C.

I’ve been to this special place a dozen times.

This museum showcases rare and fascinating artifacts spanning 3,500 years of history… providing an immersive and personalized experience with the Bible and its ongoing impact around the world.

Cutting-edge technology is used to bring the Bible to life… and to show how the Bible and its impact span time, space and cultures.

It’s located just 3 blocks from the U.S. Capitol.

    Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Walk through a Biblical world of 2,000 years ago.

See life-size, life-like scenes in 3D Dioramas making the important events and stories in the life of Jesus come alive…

Adjacent to Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

  1. SkyPark at Santa’s Village
    Skyforest, California

This is not a Biblical experience. But it’s fun!

This is a North Pole-themed outdoor adventure park located in the Lake Arrowhead area of the San Bernardino National Forest in southern California.

Experience the wonders of God’s creation as you enjoy biking, hiking, fishing, archery, ziplining and more.

Fun, not Biblical. But it’s a great place to visit.

  • Living history field trips
  • Dinner theater
  • Historically-themed overnight stays

  1. My husband and I visited the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum 5 years ago, and they were spectacular, and I mean that in a Biblical way. Every Christian (and those who are not!) should visit, especially if you have children.
