1) Fed Chairman to Trump: Make my day
President Trump must face a huge challenge with Fed Chairman Jerome Powell. Trump can’t replace him until his term ends in May of 2026.
In the meantime, the damage the Fed could do is huge.
However, when asked if he would leave his post before his term expires if President Trump requested it, Powell responded succinctly, “No.”
Powell also stated that the recent election of Donald Trump to a second presidential term will have “no effect” on the Fed’s policy decisions in the near term. He added, “Many things affect the economy,” and emphasized that the Fed does not “guess, speculate or assume” about the potential economic impact of any administration.
However, Powell outlined concerns about Trump’s overly aggressive fiscal policies, which he believed could lead to economic imbalances such as inflationary pressures.
2) The Federal Reserve
Political affiliation among Federal Reserve employees, especially among economists and policy analysts, leans heavily toward Democrats—approximately 10.4 to 1.
This disparity is even higher among economists at the Board of Governors, with a Democrat-to-Republican ratio of about 48.5 to 1.
This ratio varies in regional branches, from 3:1 at the Cleveland Fed to 12:1 at the San Francisco Fed.
3) The Fed: Part of the “resistance” to Trump
It’s clear Powell, the Federal Reserve Commission, and its employees will try to undermine and destroy Trump’s economic policies with their partisan, ideologically driven, pro-socialist worldview.
Powell is warning Trump and his administration not to tamper with their agenda.
