As Christians, we’re called to engage in the world around us, not retreat from it.

In today’s political climate, ensuring our voices are heard is more important than ever.

But with so many believers choosing not to vote or speak out, the question arises: what’s at stake?

Discover how your vote can make a difference in safeguarding the future of our families and churches.

Here are 7 things every Evangelical Christian should know…

1) Personality vs. Policies: No Perfect Candidate or Government Leader

As Christians, we know that no human leader is perfect. Whether it’s a candidate for office or a government leader, every person has flaws. The Bible reminds us that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of

God (Romans 3:23). While we might long for someone with a flawless character, the reality is that we must look at their policies, not just their personality. We aren’t called to elect perfect saints, but to support those whose policies align with God’s truth and righteous principles. It is crucial to evaluate leaders through the lens of their policies, particularly those that will influence the moral and spiritual fabric of our nation.

2) 7 Key Non-Negotiable Policies

There are certain biblical truths that must guide our decisions when selecting leaders. As Christians, we cannot compromise on issues like:

1. The sanctity of life – Protecting the unborn.

2. Marriage as God defines it – A union between one man and one woman.

3. Religious freedom – Ensuring the right to live out our faith.

4. Parental rights – Upholding the authority of parents to direct their children’s upbringing.

5. Justice and law – Supporting law and order based on biblical principles.

6. Opposition to government overreach – Keeping government from infringing on personal liberties and Christian teaching.

7. Protection of children – Resisting ideologies that confuse children about gender and sexuality.

These are non-negotiable biblical policies that should weigh heavily on our minds as we consider who we vote for.

3) Biblical Truth about Christians and Government

From Moses to John the Baptist, the Bible is filled with examples of God’s people speaking truth to power and influencing government. The idea that pastors and Christians should remain silent on political issues is entirely unbiblical.

We are called to be the salt and light of the world (Matthew 5:13-16), which includes engaging with the government.

As Josh Howerton, Senior Pastor of the multi-site Lakepointe Church in Texas points out, “if Christians remain silent, then only godless voices will be left to influence the direction of our nation. The Bible commands us to uphold justice and righteousness in the land, and that requires speaking out.”

4) Not Voting and Pastors Not Speaking Out: Anti-Christian Policies Will Be Enacted

One of the greatest tragedies of our time is that so many Christians abstain from voting.

If we do not engage in the political process, anti-Christian policies will take root and dominate.

Silence is not neutrality; it is surrender.

When pastors choose not to address critical issues in the pulpit, they are allowing destructive, anti-God policies to thrive. By not voting, Christians are abandoning their God-given responsibility to stand up for truth and righteousness.

The Bible calls us to pray for our leaders and to influence the culture with biblical truth. When we stay silent, we are handing over control to those who oppose God’s ways.

5) The Government Is Interfering with Biblical Policies

It’s not the Church that is becoming too political—it’s politics that has become more theological.

As Pastor Howerton says, “the government is no longer content with merely managing roads and infrastructure. It has begun to redefine marriage, erase gender distinctions, and promote abortion under the guise of reproductive rights. These are spiritual issues that directly contradict God’s Word. The government is stepping into the realm of theology, making it necessary for the Church to speak out. When politics starts to infringe on biblical teachings, Christians must rise to defend the truth.”

6) Parents and Grandparents Must Protect the Young

The responsibility of protecting future generations lies squarely on the shoulders of parents and grandparents.

With research indicating that up to 104 million people of faith, including 32 million church-going Christians, are unlikely to vote, the danger for our children’s future is clear.

“If godly individuals fail to engage in the political process, secular ideologies will shape our nation and our children’s minds,” said Howerton.

That’s why Pastor Howerton is sounding a warning to Christians who don’t vote are in “passive rebellion” against God, as they are neglecting

the leadership role God has entrusted to them in this constitutional republic.

Parents and grandparents must lead by example, showing the next generation that faith and civic duty go hand in hand.

By ensuring that godly leaders are elected, we safeguard the values and freedoms that allow our families and churches to thrive.

Now is the time for Christians to act—vote, speak out, and protect what God has entrusted to us.

By voting and speaking out, we honor God’s call to be salt and light in this world. Christians must engage in the political process and ensure that the next generation inherits a nation that upholds biblical principles.

The time for passive faith is over—now is the time to act.
