  • The 50,000 to 70,000 in the Columbus, Ohio metro area

Because of the ongoing civil war in Somalia, Somalis entering the U.S. have been given temporary protected status (TPS) since 1991.

TPS will end for Somalis on March 17th this year.

  • Feeding Our Future was a nonprofit that claimed to provide meals to thousands of schoolchildren during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through fake invoices and fake rosters of kids reported to have been given meals, over $250 million taxpayer dollars were stolen and went into the pockets of the administrators before funds were cut off in January 2022.[2]

  • Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention (EIDBI) – a publicly-funded autism services program – was defrauded of $14 million from 2019 to 2024.[3]
  • Medicaid programs — First Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson believes that “half or more” of the $18 billion spent by Minnesota on 14 Medicaid programs likely represents fraud.[4]

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on December 29th that the DOJ had arrested and charged 98 individuals with fraud in Minnesota, and that 85 of them were Somalis.[5]

She further stated that as of December 29th, more than 60 of those charged had been found guilty in court.

Somali Medicaid fraud has also been discovered in Ohio and in Maine.[6]
