America is turning 249 years old this week.
Happy Birthday, USA!
July 4th this year should be a celebration of everything great about our country.
But the truth?
Pride in America is collapsing.
And the sharpest decline is happening among one group—Democrats.
Here are 7 shocking realities you should know:
- Pride in America hits all-time low.
According to the latest Gallup survey, only 58% of Americans say they are “extremely” or “very” proud to be an American.[1]
That’s down from 67% just last year.
Even more stunning – in 2002 and 2004, shortly after 9/11, 91% said they were proud to be American.
The decline is no accident.
It’s a disturbing cultural shift.
- American culture is shifting from nationalism to globalism.
Despite President Trump’s “America First” agenda, many influencers with the loudest voices object to the idea of nationalism.
Their messages are subtle but persuasive:
- Far-left politicians vote for American taxpayers to provide health care for illegal aliens as an act of compassion.
- Far-left politicians and social media influencers still favor open borders and say nationalism is selfish and outdated.
- Accusations of “systemic racism” and the advocacy of DEI policies serve to erode our pride in nationalism.
- George Soros and other globalist billionaires support divisive organizations that denigrate nationalism and push for global government.
- The WHO creates a Pandemic Agreement document that calls for member nations to give up some of their sovereignty to the WHO during the next global pandemic.
Many career bureaucrats in the State Department are working behind the scenes to undermine President Trump’s nationalistic policies.
It’s all a coordinated effort to label those who love America “Deplorables,” and to celebrate those who hate America as the true progressive enlightened ones.
- Democrat pride collapses.
Here’s the most shocking result from the Gallup survey:
- Among Democrats, only 36% say they are extremely or very proud to be American.
- That’s down from 62% just a few years ago.
Even worse – among Gen Z Democrats, the number drops to 24%.
That means 3 out of 4 young Democrats have little or no pride in America.[2]
- Meanwhile, Republican pride is surging.
While Democrats are drifting into anti-American cynicism…
Republicans are moving the other direction.
Today, 92% of Republicans say they are extremely or very proud to be American—up from 85% in 2024.
The gap between the two political parties is now a staggering 56%—the widest it’s ever been.[3]
In 2002 – after 9/11 – the difference was only 6%.
This illustrates how stark the division in America has become over the past 20 years.
- The generational erosion of pride in America is disturbing.
Here is how much the attitude of pride in our country has declined since WWII:
- 83% of Americans born before 1946 are proud of America
- 75% of Baby Boomers (1946 – 1964) are proud of America
- 71% of Gen X (1965 – 1979) are proud of America
- 58% of Millennials (1980 – 1996) are proud of America
- 41% of Gen Z (1997 – 2012) are proud of America
The collapse of patriotism among the youngest generation of Americans is staggering.
Why?
Because from grade school to college, kids are now taught only what’s wrong with America—not what’s good and right about America.
In 2018, fewer than 10% of U.S. adults said they were “a little” or “not at all” proud to be American.
Today, that number has doubled to 20%.[4]
- The real culprit: Indoctrination rather than Education.
Kids in today’s public schools are being taught to:
- Despise America’s founders and the country’s founding
- Hate capitalism as an oppressive economic system
- View business as evil
- Favor socialism and government control
- Not trust religious faith or values
- Believe in government rather than in God
Instead of learning about liberty, free enterprise, and individual rights…
They’re force-fed a Marxist, anti-American, anti-Christian worldview.
Whenever you are only taught one viewpoint about a subject…
It isn’t education—it’s indoctrination.
And it’s why school choice is more urgent than ever.
We need to break the ideological monopoly of public schools and universities before it’s too late.
- Why this matters for Christians and conservatives.
If you’re a Christian or a conservative, what’s being taught in public schools, colleges and universities today should alarm you.
Why? Because the next generation is being trained to:
- Dismiss biblical truth as outdated and irrelevant
- Reject the value of hard work (see Proverbs 12:11)
- Shame patriotism
- Believe America is evil
- Censor and silence faith, individual responsibility and individual liberty
It’s not just a political battle—it’s spiritual.

- Support school choice in your local community.
- Support parental rights in public education.
- Support Christian schools and homeschooling organizations.
- Pray for and advocate curriculum reform.
