1. New Tax Waste and Newsom Fraud
California’s new two-year, $18.7 million spending program provides parents with 400 diapers in newborn size and size 1, which babies outgrow in just a few weeks to a few months.
That’s so many; much will be trashed.
The program is run by Baby2Baby, a nonprofit whose CEO is a friend and on the board of Gavin Newsom’s wife’s organization.
There was no competitive bid… but Newsom is dodging that issue.
2. Massive California Homeless Blunder
California spent $37 billion on homelessness over six years.
The result?
Homelessness doubles.
That works out to $200,000 per homeless person.
3. California: New Bill to Celebrate Two Islamic Holidays
A new California bill will add the two Islamic holy days to California’s list of state holidays, allowing workers to use existing paid leave to take the days off.
Public schools and community colleges could also choose to close for the observances.
Eid al-Adha, translated as the “Festival of the Sacrifice,” traditionally involves the ritual slaughter of livestock – typically a sheep, goat, cow or camel – in commemoration of Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son – is customarily divided among family and the needy, a practice known as “qurban.”
Eid al-Fitr, or the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” falls at the end of Ramadan, the month in which observant Muslims abstain from food and drink between dawn and sunset.
California has about 500,000 Muslims.
4. California: Highest Gas Prices in Nation Thanks to Strict Government Policies
California families pay nearly $1.70 per gallon than the national average, according to data from AAA.
The average price for a gallon of gas in California is about $5.88 compared with $4.22 nationwide.
Diesel prices in California are reaching a record average of $7.87 per gallon.
That makes gas more expensive in California than in any other U.S. state.
The reason: Gavin Newsom and the liberal / socialist legislation has shuttered refineries, blocked domestic production, driven the highest gas taxes in the country, and made California dependent on foreign oil from Iraq and Brazil.
